Biography:

MD 1982, specialization in Orthopaedic Surgery acquired in 1987 after education at Västerås Central Hospital, Sweden.

From 1994 at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg and taking care of pediatric orthopaedic patients only. Ongoing research since 1996 concerning patients with scoliosis and other paediatric orthopaedic issues.

The first long term outcome of previously treated patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis was made with Alf Nachemson as my mentor. This study resulted in my thesis, which was defended in December 2000, “Outcome of treatment for scoliosis. A multi-disciplinary follow-up at least twenty years after surgery or brace treatment in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis with comparison to a matching control group”. Further articles were published from this follow-up during the coming years. Two more major long term outcome studies have also yielded a number of publications on idiopathic scoliosis.

Since 2014 I have also been the Director of the Swedish Pediatric Orthopaedic Quality Register, a national data-base that we have developed and use for evaluation of treatment of five major pediatric orthopaedic issues.
